The Charlestowne Woodturners are meeting at JMO Woodworks, 70 Romney St., Charleston, SC 29403. On the 3rd Wednesday night of each month from 6:30pm-9:00pm.

 New legislation and hand made toys.

For those of you who have not heard, there is new legislation going into effect in Feb 2009 that requires all toys to be sold, or donated to be third party tested.

Yeah, that sucks! Let's just hope they realize that wood not painted usually doesn't contain lead.

I just added a thread on the Calendar portion of the forum regarding a meeting taking place Jan8 regarding toy testing and grass roots action we can take. I know this legislation doesn't effect a lot of us personally, but it certainly effects other crafts people. Who knows...next it could be the mennace of woooden pens...
